Our history

– a hospitality company in constant development.

The story of Bellagroup (formerly BC Hospitality Group A/S) originates at Bella Center Copenhagen. More than 50 years of development shaped by success, growth and defining milestones have resulted in the multifaceted group we know today.

From Bellahøj to Vestamager

In 1965, the Copenhagen Trade Fair marked the beginning of Bella Center Copenhagen at Bellahøj. On 5 September 1975, Her Majesty the Queen inaugurated the new Bella Center Copenhagen on Amager, laying the foundation for a new international exhibition and congress centre.

The first hotel

On 16 May 2011, Bella Center Copenhagen opened the doors to the design hotel Bella Sky Comwell – today AC Hotel Bella Sky Copenhagen – which has since become a landmark on Amager. With 23 floors and more than 800 design rooms, Bella Sky is one of the largest hotels in the Nordic region, offering fitness facilities, bars and gourmet restaurants.

In 2012, both Bella Center Copenhagen and Bella Sky were acquired by Solstra Capital Partners with the aim of expanding conference capacity and developing new offices and residential buildings.

2014 – a milestone year

2014 marked the transition from separate organisations to one consolidated group under the name BC Hospitality Group A/S. Bella Center Copenhagen, Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers and Bella Sky were brought together under one management. Comwell Conference Center Copenhagen opened in November, and shortly before the end of 2014, the five-star Copenhagen Marriott Hotel was added to the group’s portfolio. At the same time, Bella Sky was rebranded as AC Hotel Bella Sky Copenhagen, becoming part of the Marriott family.

2021 – a new beginning and a new name

The start of 2021 marked a milestone and a new chapter. Until the end of 2020, the meeting and conference business was marketed as Comwell Conference Center Copenhagen (CCCC). After a decade-long collaboration, BC Hospitality Group chose to terminate the partnership, and from 1 January 2021 the business area became an integrated part of the company under the name Bella Sky Conference & Event.

The new 14,000 m² multi-arena, Bella Arena, was completed in June 2021 as an independent supplement to Bella Center Copenhagen, positioning the venue among Northern Europe’s largest meeting, conference and event destinations.

The summer of 2021 also marked a change in ownership and a new strategic direction for the company, underscored by the name change to Bellagroup on 1 November 2021.
